Terms of Use
1. About this site
Zabuscope is a personal, non-commercial hobby project. It shows where aircraft near major airports are likely to pass in front of the moon, so that photographers can plan where to stand. It is not affiliated with any airport, airline, air navigation service provider or government agency.
2. Information only, no warranty
- Everything on this site (route lines, runway-in-use estimates, moon-shot forecasts, confidence colours, live aircraft positions and weather) is an estimate provided for general information only.
- Do not use this site for navigation, flight operations, air traffic, safety-related or any other critical decisions.
- The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without any warranty of accuracy, completeness, timeliness or availability. Forecasts can be wrong, and features may change or stop without notice.
- When taking photos, follow local laws, airport rules and the instructions of the authorities. Do not enter restricted or private areas, and do not interfere with aircraft or airport operations (for example with lights or drones).
3. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of, or inability to use, this site or the information on it.
4. Acceptable use
- Use the site through its pages in a normal way. Automated bulk downloading and excessive requests are not allowed; requests are rate-limited.
- Do not attempt to disrupt the site or access parts of it that are not public.
5. Data sources and licences
- Historical aircraft tracks: ADSB.lol, made available under the Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0. The route lines and flow particles derived from it are also made available under ODbL 1.0. How they were made is described on About the data.
- Weather (METAR / TAF): NOAA Aviation Weather Center (aviationweather.gov).
- Live aircraft: ADSB IQ.
- 2D maps: © OpenStreetMap contributors, © CARTO. Satellite imagery and labels: © Esri and its data providers.
- 3D view: Cesium ion imagery and terrain (with the credits shown in the 3D view), or OpenStreetMap tiles.
- Particles 3D view: GSI Tiles (Geospatial Information Authority of Japan) for airports in Japan; OpenStreetMap / CARTO elsewhere.
- Runway data: runway coordinates, designators and magnetic variation are taken from each country’s Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP).
Attributions are also shown at the bottom of the map. Each source keeps its own terms; this site does not grant any rights to third-party content beyond those terms.
